Minutes

Minutes of last meeting held on Monday, 9th January 2006

Present: Iris Duffy, Louie Davies, Craig Ingham, Geoff Muxworthy, Tony Ridout and John Gregory.

Apologies: Donald Prosser.

In the absence of John Gregory at the start of the meeting, owing to other commitments, Tony Ridout chaired and minuted the meeting.

Matters Arising from Previous Minutes and Previous sets of Minutes will be discussed at next Meeting.

  1. Louie expressed concerned about the late or non-delivery of the 2006 tennis fixtures from TWS. Louie had finally received the documents concerned by FAX but it was agreed that this was unsatisfactory. This would be taken up with Jenny at TWS as both Louie and Craig had reason to contact TWS on other matters. ACTION - LD and CI
  2. Craig Ingham suggested the following for the JNCL; (U 12) 1 Boys and 1 Girls (U 14) 2 Boys and 1 Girls (U 16) 1 Boys (U 18) 1 Boys and 1 Girls. (8 teams all told). The format for ages might change, but this should not alter the number of teams. The committee agreed to this. ACTION - CI
  3. Geoff Muxworthy put forward a proposal to increase our SDL Men's teams from 3 to 4 and the NCL Men's teams to 2. The Ladies would remain as they were. Louie expressed a real concern about the general availability of courts, as the 2006 schedule was very demanding. A full discussion and debate ensued and the committee agreed that we would go ahead with the extra teams, on the condition, that one of the NCL teams would play on the University courts. Geoff would make contact with the University to find out availability. Louie would try to work out the fixtures in light of the extra teams. ACTION - LD and GM
  4. Team Captains would have to be agreed at a future tennis meeting. ACTION - GM
  5. Iris reminded the committee that there was to be a Quiz at the club on the 21/1/06.
  6. The committee would express their pleasure to Tessina Braunerova and Amie Lieu in light of the comments made by the Captain of the Penarth Windsor Ladies Team, on their standard of play, attitude and encouragement of each other. Very well done Tessina and Amie.
  7. Next Meeting 6/2/2006 TBA
