MINUTES 0F MEETING  HELD ON TUESDAY 16/02/2010 AT 7.30PM

 

Present: Geoff Muxworthy, Jeff Gleave, Norman Allnatt, Tony Cuff, Robin Chen

Apologies for Absence: Tony Ridout, John Gregory, Cliff Sarfas

 

 

  1. Previous minutes 0f 28/01/10 were agreed

 

  1. Courts/Grounds

 

Norman Allnatt updated the committee on the current position. More quotes had been received but the quote from Platts was still the best. The following meetings are arranged

-         Meeting with Julie Williams, Tennis Wales 3.30 on 18/02/10.

-         Visit from LTA technical services staff 10 am on 19/02/10.

-         Meeting Chief Executive, Tennis Wales 9 am on 23/02/10.

 

     A variety of points were made, including the impact of the potential closure of the Swansea Tennis Centre. The position and the way forward should be clearer after the meetings in the next few days have taken place.

 

Discussion then turned on how to attract members from the Tennis centre should it close.

It was agreed that a proposal to offer a trial 3 month membership of £30 for the period April to June, followed by the opportunity to get discounted membership at the Open Day should be offered to users of the Tennis Centre, if it closes, provided they have not been members of SLTSRC for the last 3 years. This proposal to be put to the next management meeting. (AP)

 

Maintenance – all windbreaks have been securely fastened. 2 tons of clay ordered.  Agreed there would be a working party on Friday 19th February starting 10am –as many volunteers as possible would be welcome.

 

 

3.      Coaching/Juniors/Competition

 

Competition Organiser course arranged for 24th February 6-9 pm. Open to young people 16-25 and adults. 14 people have registered to take part.

Internal Leagues– agreed that it would now be best for the committee to re-launch and run these. Jeff Gleave/Robin Chen to work on getting these off the ground in April, possibly with the support of some of the competition organisers. Jeff Gleave to clear with Craig Ingham. (AP)

 

Fixtures Meeting for summer leagues taking place on 20th March – Jeff Gleave/Louie Davies/Geoff Muxworthy to attend (AP)

 

Match Balls – 2 gross to be ordered- Tony Ridout to be asked to do. (AP)

 

 

4.      Teams

 Captains confirmed – Mens 4 only needs resolving.

 

5.      Schedule of Activity for the summer. The following dates were agreed:

 

Start of the Season day – Saturday 10th April from 1pm

Club Open Day – Sunday 4th July

Club Tournament – 21st June – 4th July.

6.      Treasurers Report – balance of account same as last meeting.
